Privacy Policy

Let’s be honest, nobody reads the privacy policy of any website they visit. Why? Because they’re mostly legal mumbo jumbo, and 99.9% of them are painfully boring, over-complicated and long. We want to change this practise, so we’re simplifying our Privacy Policy to be as clear and concise as possible — so pretty much everyone can, at first glance, understand what data of theirs is being collected, and how their data is used. Here we go!

Our privacy & data policy is divided into four parts. They are as follows:

i. Data we collect

We collect two types of information from our users: personal information and non-personal information.

Personal Information: Basically any data that can be used to identify you as an individual. We collect this information when you voluntarily provide it to us, such as when you fill out our contact form or sign up for our newsletter or leave comments on our posts. This information may include your name, email address, phone number, and any other information you choose to provide.

Non-Personal Information: Non-personal information is mostly technical data. Some people claim it can’t be used to identify who you are as an individual, but it pretty much can be used to stitch together what kind of person you are. When you browse our website (www.animajestic.com), we automatically collect this information, which includes: your IP address, browser type, device type, and information about your interaction with our website (e.g., pages visited, time spent on our website, all that stuff).

ii. Why we collect your data

You might be wondering – why collect my data in the first place? Well, as we’ve outlined earlier in this policy, you CAN choose NOT to provide us with any personally-identifiable information by not filling out any forms or newsletters on our blog. The other “non-identifiable” data though, like your IP address are automatically collected for the following purposes:

  1. To understand our demographics, and where our traffic mostly comes from
  2. To communicate with you, such as responding to your inquiries and sending you newsletters if you have subscribed.
  3. To detect, prevent, and address technical issues. We can get DDosed or hacked, and nobody likes that. Collecting technical information about visitors to our website helps us keep an eye out for the bad guys, seriously.

iii. Transparency about ads and tracking

[Google Ads Currently Not In Use At This Time] At some point in the future, we will have Google Ads enabled on our website. Google Ads allows us to display relevant advertisements to our users, and in turn, we earn income, which gives us the ability to continue running this blog and also pay our staff.

We may also use tools like Google Analytics to track your movement across our website. This helps us better understand our users and how they interact with our website – such as how long they spend on a page, links clicked while on our website, where our website traffic is coming from, and other important analytical data.

Google uses cookies to collect non-personal information about your visit to our website, such as the pages you visited, the time you spent on the site, and the links you clicked. This information is used to provide tailored advertisements and analyze website traffic. You can learn more about how Google uses your data by visiting Google’s Privacy Policy. We also use cookies to remember your sessions – like if you’re logged in to leave a comment, etc.

If you wish to opt-out of Google Analytics, you can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

iv. About third-party links

Our website may contain links to external sites that are not operated by us. Sometimes we have to link to websites like Wikipedia or reputable sources when writing our articles.

Please note that we have no control over these third-party sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected on our website. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

At some point in the future, we also plan to enable affiliate links on our website. We will communicate this accordingly once it is implemented.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will be posted on this page, and we encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us using the information provided on our Contact Us page.
